I have decided to repurpose this dwindling blog to talk about some things that currently interest me. I have been enjoying cooking - though I AM NOT BY ANY MEANS A MARTHA STEWART. If I can cook it - anyone can cook it! But I also have to give credit to my cousin Blaise who came for a visit a few summers ago and was able to show me how easy it was to make some very delicious food.
Also I have started yet another new life in Shaker Heights Ohio - a wonderful old neighborhood that abounds with fantastic old houses. I am even getting to rent one. That said - as I write this most of my stuff is still in California - which is what happens when there is no company other than your own that moves you. Even with these challenges, I am having fun trying to slowly but surely furnish my new home with finds from thrift and antique stores. I also have been very lucky to have a landlord who is very happy to throw some key furnishings in as he has downsized. I am into finding deals and probably will always be - even if we start making lots of money. Now it's a bit of what I have to do - like MOST OF US!! So instead of getting sour - I'm making lemonade with the lemons - or at least trying to!
One more funny note is that my mother and stepfather are artists and antique dealers so that I have in my life been privileged to live in beautiful spaces. Sadly this interior design gene has not quite made it my way - and so like my cooking - if I can make a space work - there is hope there for all! But I am not there yet.....
I am in my 40's with 2 daughters 8 and under, and 3 teenage stepsons. I an eclectic background that includes project managing web applications, working in the music industry and playing bassoon. I have added into the mix teaching and I currently substitute and tutoring. I love working with kids especially with reading. My husband is Marc Canter who keeps his own blog. We have just moved from Northern California to Cleveland Ohio so Marc can pursue making a digital city - requires on read his blog to grok.
